November 2, 2004

Playing around on the computer in the study at roughly 1:30 am this morning.

Feeling of being watched intensified around 2am, and a bag of crystals weighing nearly 1 1/2 lbs. on a desk by the bookshelf shifted loudly. All windows in the apartment were shut, the cat was fast asleep in the bedroom, and nothing else moved.

The study felt colder than the rest of the apartment... I can't find my thermometers, dang it!

The windows are all sturdy, and were checked for draughts when we first moved in. Checked again later this morning, still no draughts.

2:13 pm, getting ready to vote.

Scratching noises in bedroom, cat was napping on the living room couch. Probably rodents in the crawlspace (icky!) but the bedroom seemed chilly. Strange, the bedroom is always the warmest room in the apartment.

4pm, watching for election returns.
Pulled out the Gauss meter and digital voice recorder, checked batteries. Everything still works! Will get off my lazy butt later to get some readings, but too busy cheering for Kerry right now.

November 1st, 2004

We moved into our new apartment on August 1st of this year.

My husband and I attributed our "eerie feelings" to the stress of moving and setting up camp in an unfamiliar place.

Over the next few months, we felt as though we were being watched, in addition to our "eerie feelings". Locked and latched doors occasionally popped open, and we both felt an intense distaste for the crawlspace under the apartment. Easily dismissable, of course.

However, our neighbor visited us yesterday to ask if we had noticed any trouble with the ghost. This has motivated me to pulling out my equipment and logbook, to see what there is to see.

Our apartment building is the oldest campus resident community still standing in this town, built in 1957. It is of cinder block construction, with a poured slab foundation over a two foot crawlspace. There are two apartments to each building, an upstairs and a downstairs apartment. My husband and I are on the first floor.

Two buildings are connected by a cement breezeway, giving us a total of three neighboring apartments, although only one other apartment touches ours.

Our downstairs neighbor across the breezeway has reported rapping or knocking noises at all hours, and her television occasionally switches itself off. She says that the remote control has been in clear view each time. Feelings of intense fear kept her hidden in her bedroom for an hour after the last case of knocking.
